Girl, 17, dies in horror crash as two other teenagers seriously injured

A teenage girl has tragically died after the car she was driving collided with a tree.

Police have said that the Seat Ibiza Xcellence left the road at a junction on Headcorn Road in Kent on Thursday, June 11.

Emergency crews were sent to the scene just before 8.30pm.

A 17-year-old girl, who was driving the car, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were injured in the crash with a 19-year-old man described as being in a life-threatening condition.

A 17-year-old boy was also rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

In a statement, Kent Police said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage following a fatal collision in Staplehurst.

"Kent Police was called to the incident on Headcorn Road at 8.25pm on Thursday 11 June 2026.

"A blue Seat Ibiza Xcellence was travelling from Headcorn towards Staplehurst, when it left the road at the junction with Sweetlands Lane and collided with a tree.

"Officers attended alongside paramedics and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"The driver, a 17 year old girl, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

"Two passengers were also injured. A 19 year old man was taken to a London hospital in a life-threatening condition and a 17 year old boy was conveyed to a local hospital with serious injuries.

"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle beforehand to contact the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference BN/DH/048/26.
