Major diversion as A30 crash shuts road for several hours

The 'very serious' crash took place this evening

Diversion routes are in place after a serious crash closed a major road in Cornwall. The A30 is closed westbound near Carland Cross after a car, a bus and a motobike reportedly collided on the route on Thursday evening (April 10).

National Highways has said the road is expected to be closed for some time tonight while emergency services are at the scene. Police officers were called to the crash at around 7.10pm.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said drivers are being advised to take alternate routes while the closure is in place. Drivers are being diverted off the A30 at the Summercourt Interchange, before taking the A3058 and A3076 and rejoining the A30 at Mitchell.

National Highways said: "The A30 in Cornwall is closed westbound between the A3058 (Summercourt) and A3076 (Mitchell) due to a serious collision."

Traffic monitor Inrix reports "A30 Westbound closed due to accident, a car, bus and motorcycle involved from A3076 (Mitchell Turn Off, Mitchell) to A39 (Carland Cross, Carland Cross)."
