Tasty food stalls and world flavours await at Hull's Global Food Festival
From samosas to street food, Hull's most diverse food festival returns bigger and better this year.
A Hull park will be brimming with flavour for the second Hull Global Food Festival later this month.
The festival is back at Pearson Park on June 21st with over 60 food stalls to tantalise the tastebuds. The aim is to bring the community together through food, something that the organizers say is more important than ever. Crisis Response Team - an umbrella group that brings many charities together - is the brains behind the Hull Global Food Festival, alongside the Peel Project and Islamic Relief. After the success of last year’s event, which took place in August, the team is excited to bring it back for a second year.
Mizanur Rahman, who is organizing the event with the charity Crisis Response Team, said: “This is the only event of its kind in the UK. It is set to be one of the biggest food festivals East Yorkshire has ever seen, bringing together more than 60 stalls, including 30 food vendors serving dishes from across the world.
“We wanted to stage an event to bring people together to celebrate diversity. We believe that food brings people together more than anything. A lot of these traders are from out of town, so there are about 60 stalls, coming from as far away as London, Birmingham and Manchester. It gives people an opportunity to hang around together and eat together.
“A lot of people feel helpless and they can’t do a lot about what’s going on in the world, and they can’t get to a market in somewhere like London. It’s a chance to find like minded people. We did it last year, it was a huge success and it’s back bigger and better. It gives people an outlet to deal with whatever they are going through." As well as dozens of food stalls, there will be a charity run, community organisations, a funfair and arts and crafts.
Mizanur said: “The event is all about bringing people together, celebrating diversity and strengthening community cohesion. It gives people the opportunity to experience cultures from around the world right here in Hull. In Hull, we lack a lot of diverse food from all over the world. If you wanted a proper fresh homemade samosa there’s not really anywhere to go. The idea came from us looking at how we can get together with everyone from all different societies and nationalities. We care about our city and about our country, but we care about what’s going on in other parts of the world as well.”
This year’s event also marks the second Run for Palestine in Hull, following the success of last year's inaugural event. 560 runners took part in 2025 and the team is expecting even greater participation this year. “For many people, the run provides an opportunity to do something positive, support important charitable causes and come together with others in the community,” Mizanur said. “It is far more than just another food festival, it is a unique community event with something for everyone.”
The festival begins at 12pm and runs until 6pm on Sunday, June 21st, and is free to attend. The Run for Palestine begins at 12pm at Pearson Park. Register for the run here: iruk.co/runforpalestine . The Run for Palestine is free for under-15s and £5 for everyone else. Every participant receives a gold coloured commemorative medal and a bag packed with gifts and treats.
