Two lanes are shut on the M62 following a crash tonight. (Friday, June 5).

The lanes are closed to traffic on the westbound carriageway between Junction 12 (Eccles) and Junction 11 (Birchwood).

The incident was first reported at around 9.30pm.

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "Two lanes closed due to accident on M62 Westbound from J12 M60 J12 (Eccles Interchange) to J11 A574 Birchwood Way (Birchwood)."

A National Highways spokesperson said: "On the M62 westbound between J12 (M60/M602) and J11 (Birchwood) 2 (of 4) lanes are closed due to a collision. Recovery is taking place along with an assessment to the central reservation barrier and spillage clean up. There are delays of 30 minutes on the approach."

According to Traffic England, drivers face delays of 30 minutes due to the crash on the M62 westbound.

Disruption expected until 10.45pm

Drivers on the M62 could face disruption for another hour after a crash on the westbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 11.

Traffic England has described the incident as 'severe', with normal traffic conditions not expected until around 10.30pm-10.45pm tonight.

There's also queues on the M62 westbound entry slip at junction 12, with delays of around 10 minutes.
