Ryan Reynolds posts picture of Gareth Bale in a Wrexham shirt and says 'what if'

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been publicly courting Wales legend Gareth Bale online

We know it's all tongue in cheek but Ryan Reynolds' efforts to get Gareth Bale to come play for Wrexham are showing no sign of stopping.

It all started when Reynolds' Wrexham co-owner, Rob McElhenney, posted a video of the Wales icon congratulating the Red Dragons on their promotion back to the Football League.

In a video posted by the actor on social media, Bale says: "Hi Rob. Just want to congratulate you for your promotion and everything you're doing at Wrexham."

Quote tweeting the video, McElhenney wrote: "Hey @GarethBale11 let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season."

Bale responded, saying "depends on what course" with Reynolds yesterday joining in the fun, writing: “I will shave a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back if you’ll give Wrexham a season."

This evening, Reynolds has tweeted a picture of Bale in the red of Wrexham mocked up by Twitter user @Mutant101.

The black and white snap has Bale front and centre and the only person in colour, with Reynolds and McElhenney looking on from the right.

It is rather unlikely Bale that will be coming out of retirement but this public campaign by the Hollywood actors is certainly good to watch and gives fans the platform to dream.
