Jiffy winds up Ugo Monye over Wales v England 'bet' as star says 'you're off your head'

The Welsh rugby legend couldn't resist stirring the pot ahead of the huge Super Saturday clash in Cardiff

Jonathan 'Jiffy' Davies and Simon Zebo couldn't resist poking fun at Ugo Monye with their predictions for Wales' Super Saturday clash with England, leaving the BBC Rugby Special presenter to declare "you're off your heads".

An eventful penultimate weekend in the Six Nations saw Wales slip to a 16th successive Test match defeat against Scotland, while England sealed a bonus-point victory over Italy to give themselves a shot at the title heading into the final round of fixtures.

With three wins from four so far this campaign, Steve Borthwick's side trail leaders France by just a point and will travel to Cardiff on Saturday looking for their fourth successive championship win over Wales.

While Monye admitted the clash at the Principality Stadium will be a "tough" one for England, he also seemed incredibly confident that the visitors will triumph on Sunday's episode of Rugby Special - leading Jiffy and former Ireland star Zebo to tease him.

Stirring the pot while analysing the English win over the Italians at Twickenham, Jiffy admitted: "They looked really comfortable and confident, so I can’t see how they can lose next week to be honest…"

Picking up on the cheeky dig, former England wing Monye replied: "I’m ignoring that, we’ll get on to that in a minute Jiffy! Two tight wins, a very convincing win here. They’re second in the table, next game is Wales away.

"They’ll be licking their lips [at] giving themselves an opportunity at the title, won’t they Zeebs?"

Zebo couldn't resist joining in on the fun, as he replied: "Yeah… according to yourself it’s a foregone conclusion!" to which Monye hit back: "Hey, that was in the green room!"

As the trio laughed along, Jiffy raised the stakes and jokingly added: "[Monye] said he was going to shave his chest, didn’t he? He’s going to shave his chest if England lose!"

The follically-challenged presenter laughed it off, before offering an alternative and saying "I’ll shave my head!" with the also-bald Zebo agreeing to join him.

"But in all seriousness, [England] have a great chance," added the former Irish back. "How many is it now for Wales? Sixteen in a row? But having said that, what an occasion it would be for them to break the rut against the old enemy. And we might get you to shave your head as well!"

Monye replied: "What an occasion? You’re talking to the wrong person for sure!"

While the presenter may have thought that would be the end to the ribbing, Jiffy and Zebo teamed up again later in the show to wind up Monye again. Asked for their predictions for next weekend's match in Cardiff, both pundits raised the possibility of a shock Welsh win, with Jiffy admitting the host might need to "get the razor out".

"Everything points at England, because they’re the better side and we’re on a disastrous run of games," said the Wales great. "But it’s the last game, it’s in Cardiff and it’s going to be just crazy there.

"The Welsh boys will get up for it. If they get the intensity they had against Ireland and play like they did against Ireland, we are going to be in with a shout."

As for Zebo, he said: "Opposite to you [Monye] my friend, I’m going to lean towards a Welsh victory," with Jiffy adding: "Get the razor out, get the razor out!"

"I think the rut is going to be ended," the former Munster man continued. "We've got Wales by 10."

As Jiffy was left in stitches, Monye was less impressed as he replied: "Oh my gosh, you’re absolutely off your head! Simon has obviously been on the whisky, so I'm going to park that there."
