Nigel Owens and Jiffy make Sarra Elgan's life a misery on live TV over husband
The TV presenter is set to interview her own husband and ask him an awkward question this weekend
Nigel Owens and Jonathan 'Jiffy' Davies comically took aim at Sarra Elgan ahead of Wales v Ireland this weekend.
Of course, Elgan is married to former Scarlets star Simon Easterby, who is the interim head coach of Ireland. He also happens to be one of the favourites for the permanent Wales job.
Naturally, working in the media, Elgan has interviewed her own husband on television, and it seems likely she'll be doing the same on Saturday evening, after his team take on Elgan's native Wales.
With so much speculation around Easterby and the Wales job, on the latest episode of 'Jonathan' on S4C, Owens and Jiffy took the opportunity to ask Elgan what it's been like for her and her husband, but she remained tight-lipped.
Owens had explained that if he had to move away from Wales, it would be Ireland or Canada. Concluding this, he added: "Right then, tell us now, you like the Irish (towards Elgan). You fell in love with one of them. Well, he was born in Yorkshire, has an English accent, but he's Irish! What's happening in the Easterby house this week? Is the night before a game like the night before a wedding? Separate beds? Is he in the hotel?"
"No, he won't be at home," explained Elgan. "He'll be in the hotel with the team."
"You could steal some...," joked Owens. "Steal what?," exclaimed Elgan. "Has he left the game plan on the table?," asked Owens.
"That's what I can do!," joked Elgan. "That's a great idea, why didn't I think of that?"
"The only person Sherratt hasn't brought in is you!," joked Jiffy. "You'd be the best one, too. You know all of Ireland's tactics!"
"Numbers and lineout calls," continued Owens.
"Will this go all night?," asked Elgan.
"Everyone asks us who will get the Wales job," said Owens. "Will it be Simon Easterby? You're the one who knows."
"I don't know anything!," exclaimed Elgan. "She doesn't know anything!," laughed Owens.
"You're working for S4C Saturday, aren't you?," asked Jiffy. "After the game, you'll have to ask Simon - 'Well, Simon, are you interested in taking the Welsh job?'"
"I will ask him - Jonathan's asking," joked Elgan.
"Simon, are you interested in taking the Welsh job and coming home to live with me full-time," joked Owens. "Or would you prefer to stay in Ireland?"
"Leave it now!," concluded Jiffy before getting on with the show.
During the Ireland press conference on February 20, Easterby was asked about the Wales links, and explained that he remained committed to his current role, and all the rumours are purely speculation.
"Of course there's been speculation but that's all it is - speculation, I'm not in control of that," said Easterby. "I love it here, I'm very fortunate with the people I get to work with here. For me, it's a dream job.
"It's speculation and not something I can control. Right now this is my only focus, whatever happens in the future, in a year's time I could lose my job and in sport it's very fluid people.
"I've had no contact with the WRU, for me it's all guns blazing towards Cardiff on Saturday and making sure me and the team prepare the team the right way. Whatever happens outside of that is outside my control."
