Bright circus set wows Principality Stadium crowd during Take That Cardiff gig
Take That treated fans to an epic two-hour extravaganza as they brought The Circus Tour to Cardiff
Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald returned to Cardiff's Principality Stadium and brought their beloved The Circus Tour with them on Tuesday evening, June 16. A brightly coloured circus-themed set adorned the stage as the trio took to the stage after The Script and Belinda Carlisle warmed up the crowd.
There were queues of traffic on the M4 and huge crowds building up in the city centre before doors opened at 5pm. Cardiff was full of fans dressed in merch, colourful hats, and circus-inspired outfits for the band's one-night stop in the Welsh capital.
Take That first toured the famously flambouyant and colourful show back in 2009 and now, as a trio, they've brought it back for 2026 - bigger, better and more bombastic - read the reviews of previous shows, here.
The two-hour extravaganza or circus performance, dancing and singing included everything from trapeze artists, tight-rope walkers, fireworks, hot air balloons, and of course that magical 30ft animatronic elephant that walks through the crowds during the band's performance of The Garden.
Follow live updates from the gig below.
A huge puppet has now appeared signalling the closing section of the show. The sun has now set and the stadium is almost in total darkness aside from a few phone flashlights and the strong purple beams coming from the centre stage.
At the end of Take That and Party the band dropped their trousers to reveal boxers with the Welsh flag emblazoned across them.
If you are at this evening's gig and planning on getting the train home you may want to be aware of some disruption to services this evening.

- Due to a tree blocking the railway between Chepstow and Lydney, services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled. National Rail staff are working to clear the obstruction.
- A fault with the signalling system at Cathays is also causing disruption. Services may be delayed by up to 10 minutes or cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Queen Street. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
- Services will be cancelled from Radyr towards Cardiff Central until the end of the day due to a fault with the signalling system.

Fireworks are now being let off from the Principality Stadium roof as they perform their second most streamed song ever. According to the Official Charts Company, Shine has been streamed 95m times.
The band also took home the 2008 Brit award for Best British Single for the tune.
As Take That perform The Garden a 30ft animatronic elephant appears on stage. Gary, Mark, and Howard stand from a regal box on top as though they are standing in a carriage.

"I actually don't think this stadium was built when we started," reflects Mark Owen.
He continues: "I could be wrong, but I think we might be older than this stadium. It's such an honour for us to be here and to be able to perform in front of you.
"We know it means so much to you. Thank you for allowing us to perform these songs, we hope we do them justice."

They just want to recreate the magic of that whole entire tour and what a privilege it to still be around. The only thing that's changed in the meantime is we're trying to catch up with them on hits. They still just have hits for days. It's amazing because [the first time] we were trying to get the audience to know our songs and now they know the songs. It's a wonderful night."
